On behalf of the Conference Committee of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE), it is my distinct honour and privilege to welcome you to our Biennial Conference, themed: “Engineering the Sierra We Desire: A Sustainable Approach.”

This theme is not merely a collection of words — it is a clarion call. It challenges us to move beyond conventional practice and embrace our role as architects of a resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking Sierra Leone.

For decades, engineering has driven our nation’s progress, from energy and infrastructure to water and waste management. Yet, the Sierra Leone we desire demands more than function; it demands foresight. It asks us to build not just for today, but for generations unborn. It calls for solutions that harmonize economic growth with environmental stewardship and social equity.
